The Yellowstone River is a tributary to the Missouri River. It runs 671 miles through the high plains of Southern Montana to Wyoming. It is the longest free flowing un-damed river. It is fed by other tributaries like the Boulder River and the Stillwater River. This fishery has a mixture of different types of water from waterfalls, to rapids and calm ripples in the canyons and valley. It has a little of everything for beginners and the avid fisherman.
This fishery is good from the spring to the fall. High water season can affect the waters and muddy them up, but the hatches on the Yellowstone are amazing. Spring time offers active hungry trout, while summer is the best for dry-fly fishing in clear waters, and fall is prime time for streamer and terrestrial fishing.
