The Missouri River in Montana is known for its diverse scenery, rich history and world-class fly fishing. It's the longest river in the United States, flowing from the Rocky Mountains to the Mississippi River. In Montana the Missouri begins at the confluence of the Jefferson Madison and Gallatin rivers near Three Forks and flows through the state for 700 miles.
The best time to fish the Missouri River is late spring to fall. May through July and September being prime times. This time of year brings pleasant weather and abundant hatches and active fish.
